Carlisle-based artist Abi Brown held her first-ever art exhibition on Wednesday, October 23 at Fantails Restaurant in Wetheral.

This was Abi’s first exhibition since she finished studying art and design at Carlisle College, a course she began in 2018.

At the exhibition, Abi showcased her latest project which celebrates her contemporary and abstract style and love for the flow of painting curves and the Lake District’s ‘groovy hills’.

She said: “It was a fabulous evening and it was so nice to see so many people come to support me.

“There was a great buzz for the whole evening so I couldn’t have hoped for any better.

“I couldn’t have done it without the help of my family and friends – everyone got roped in.

“The feedback I received was really encouraging and I am excited to do more exhibitions like this in the future.

(Image: Supplied) “Huge thanks to Fantails for inviting me to host my first solo exhibition and to Carlisle College for their help and wise words as always, they really are the best team and run a truly amazing art and design course.

“Overall I am buzzing with how it went.”

Speaking previously, Abi had described what is like being an up-and-coming artist in Cumbria, with inspiration around every corner.

She said: “The best thing about being a local artist is how easily I find inspiration. We live in an amazing part of the country and there is total beauty all around to pick out and paint.

(Image: Supplied) “There is so much colour used in these pieces which I just love. It’s that feeling of creating something that genuinely makes you feel happy.

“There are also some more sophisticated, monotone pieces on display and up for grabs as well as prints and calendars so hopefully something for everyone.

“I just love creating things, as long as I can do this then I am happy.”
