Internationally renowned artist Frank To, who is an art lecturer at Inverness UHI, will see his artwork on show at One of a Kind Gallery in March.

Mr To has recently been accepted as one of the few Scots to full professional membership of the Society of Graphic Fine Art which he will be exhibiting with in this year’s annual exhibition at the renowned Mall Galleries central London.

Commenting on showing at One of a Kind Gallery and upcoming London exhibition, To said: “For me personally, it is important whenever I can show in the Highlands such as Inverness where I work.

“I am humbled that there is a growing audience who admire and support my work.

“By exhibiting at One of a Kind Gallery (of whom the owner is one of my past students), I am showing support to a local Inverness business and my appreciation to the kindness of the residents who have been so accommodating to me for the past several years.”

Mr To’s unique and innovative gunpowder technique is garnering him international recognition as a leading contemporary artist amongst art critics and high profile collectors alike, including actor Sir. Patrick Stewart (of Star Trek fame), New York based Michel Witmer, who hangs To’s work alongside those of Picasso, Dine and Warhol and University of Cambridge.

Now an established reality within Eastgate, One of a Kind Gallery offers a diverse collection of beautiful art pieces and unique gift ideas solely created by local artists.

Their mission is to support and showcase the exceptional talents of local community’s artists and creators.

Mr To continued: “With the upcoming exhibition with the SGFA, I’m still trying to get used to the fact that I now elected as professional member in recognition of high calibre within contemporary drawing. Furthermore, this exhibition is important to me as I’m representing the best of Scottish contemporary art in the field of drawing.”

The Society of Graphic Fine Art – The Drawing Society – is the only national society in the UK dedicated exclusively to drawing.

Founded in 1919, the Society promotes fine drawing skills in both traditional and contemporary media. Today the society has more than 130 elected members across Britain.

Frank To’s selected coloured gunpowder artwork ‘Good Omen’ goes on show and will be for sale in the Society of Graphic Fine Art Annual Exhibition in London from March 10 to March 15.

His gunpowder works ‘Flight’, ‘Young Blood’ ’For Fork Sake’ and ‘Blue Flight’’ will be exhibited at the One of a Kind Gallery before the London show.
