Hosted by the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts, Taiwan (TMoFA), the 2025 Taoyuan International Art Award (TIAA) aims to foster diverse artistic development and nurture contemporary talent. Through an international open call, artists selected for the award exhibit their works in Taoyuan, strengthening global artistic exchange.

Following the preliminary review in June 2024, works by 11 finalists from Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, the United States, Canada, and Belgium were selected from 1,161 entries worldwide to compete for the award. After an extensive on-site secondary review by an international jury panel, the Grand Prize was awarded to Chulayarnnon Siriphol, Kasamaponn Saengsuratham, Arjin Thongyuukong, and Krongpong Langkhapin for “Red Eagle Sangmorakot: No More Hero In His Story” (2025).

The Taiwanese artist duo Working Hard (She Wen Ying, Kuo Po Yu) won the Sojourn Award for “Sleep in Fish (Ikan Kapan Bobok)” (2024). Three artists received an Honorable Mention: the Japanese artist duo couch (Hiroki Miyazaki and Reiko Asao) for “A fable of a fable ” (2021-2025), American duo Kevin Corcoran and Jorge Bachmann for “Refrained Invocations (Encodings)” (2024-2025), and Malaysian artist Lee Tek Khean for “Gai Gaau” (2024).

The Selected Award goes to Delayed Takeoff From Taoyuan (Lin Yan Xiang, Wang Cheng Hsiang)’s “Urge Miracle to Stay” (2024), Tsai Yu Ting’s “See you next time” (2024), Aisuke Kondo’s “YELLOW PEEL” (2023), Erdem Taşdelen’s “Demagogues: 7” (2025), Goh Uozumi’s Social Choice and Its Enemies – ver.2” (2024), and Robbe Maes and Reynout Dekimpe’s “Welcome to Fieldkapelle” (2024).

In addition to showcasing outstanding work by artists from around the world, the international jury panel is another defining feature of TIAA. The preliminary review committee for this edition included Abby Chen, Head of Contemporary Art and Curator at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco; Reuben Keehan, Curator at Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art in Australia; Sunjung Kim, Artistic Director of Art Sonje Center in Seoul, South Korea; Wang Po-Wei, Artistic Director of the Digital Art Foundation in Taiwan; and Lu Pei-Yi, Associate Professor at National Taipei University of Education. The final review was convened by Chang Chih-Min, TMoFA Acting Director, along with two additional jury members: David Teh, Associate Professor of National University of Singapore, and Zoe Chia-Jung Yeh, Director of Hong-Gah Museum.

The 2025 TIAA exhibition is now open and will run until Sunday, May 18, at Taoyuan Arts Center, Taiwan. The international open call for the 2027 edition of the award will be announced in 2026.
