The artist responsible for the famous mural of Athletic Club star Nico Williams in the Basque Country has this weekend sent a message to those responsible for vandalising his work.

Wide-man Nico’s mural has taken its place centre stage in the media headlines in Spain once more across the day to date.

This comes after it was targeted by vandals for the 2nd time in the space of a week.

Amid anger with their side’s attacker over his active push for a move to La Liga rivals Barcelona, Athletic Club fans sprayed over the image with the words ‘f**king rat’.

Just hours on, though, the painting was restored to its original state once more.

Not only that, but accompanying as much was a poignant message on the part of the artist responsible for Nico’s mural, Carlos López.

Drawn on his insistence on keeping the tribute intact by Europa Press (as cited by Mundo Deportivo), López was defiant in responding:

“Unless they bulldoze it, they’re wasting their time. They probably spent more on spray paint.”
