No7’s new Weightless Silk Foundation is our new make-up hero – here’s why

No7 is a longstanding beauty brand that many know and love – not least because of the impressive beauty vaults from the label, but the new Pro Artist Weightless Silk Sheer Foundation.

Last month No7 expanded its luxury make-up range, Pro Artist, to include the new Weightless Silk Foundation to its ever-growing collection, which I have been trialling behind the scenes to see if it delivers. In short: it does.

While I am a Beauty Editor of over a decade and have sampled various foundations in my time, it is not a staple in my make-up kit. Instead, if I am heading to the office, events or more formal occasions I prefer the sheer coverage, lightweight texture and subtle hint of colour, a tinted moisturiser provides. But, I think I may have met my match with the new Pro Artist Weightless Silk Sheer Foundation.

Yes, the title is a bit of a mouthful, so we’ll abbreviate it to the Weightless Silk Foundation, but it does exactly what it says on the tin. This foundation is featherweight, it blends seamlessly into the skin, leaves a velvet soft finish that isn’t too cakey, greasy or ‘done’, and it offers a sheer coverage for that ‘your skin but better’ look. Tick, tick, tick!

This foundation is a make-up and skincare hybrid.Infused with brightening vitamin C, soothing vitamin E and hydrating hyaluronic acid. It offers sheer coverage, which is easy to blend into the skin, velvet-soft, non-greasy, buildable and longlasting. Available in 12 shades.

The foundation is a make-up and skincare hybrid as the formula is enriched with vitamins C, E, as well as hyaluronic acid. Not only does the foundation work to brighten the skin on the surface, but the skin-loving ingredients achieve this on a deeper level too as vitamin C is known for its brightening properties, hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin, while vitamin E is soothing on the skin.

The foundation is ultra-lightweight in the skin, breathable and doesn’t leave the skin feeling sticky, greasy. In fact, I would say it leaves a second skin feel, which is what I love about a tinted moisturiser.

While it offers sheer coverage, it is enough to conceal any blemishes, redness, uneven skin tone, blur the skin, as well as brighten my tired and grey skin.

What also impressed me was no matter how much of the liquid foundation I applied it absorbed into the skin easily, yet didn’t look cakey, even if I accidentally applied too much.

I sampled Cool Ivory and Cool Vanilla as I can be between skin tones, especially if I have fake tan on my face or have been in the sun. But both colours suited my skin tone and blended into my natural skin tone easily I couldn’t tell the difference. So, if you are unsure on the best shade for your skin you don’t have to panic buy every shade, which is much more cost effective.

The foundation sits beautifully on bare skin, over moisturiser and other skincare products, but also under make-up.

As the Weightless Foundation offers sheer coverage I was dubious how longlasting this product would be, and if it would live up to its 24-hour staying power. But it’s safe to say this foundation didn’t budge from morning til night when the UK was hit with a heatwave, which says a lot.

I know I don’t often want to layer make-up onto my skin in the summer, especially not a thick foundation, but this No7 Pro Artist Weightless Silk Foundation is a saving grace in those instances – well, all year round for that matter. Safe to say No7 has pulled it out the bag with its latest drop, which is now an essential in my make-up kit for the summer, and every season after.
Plus, you can’t go wrong for £19.95, though stay tuned as Boots Big Summer Sale could see the price drop – who knows?
