Mayo College of Further Education and Training has announced a major investment in a new, state-of-the-art New Generation Apprenticeship Centre in Swinford.

It comes alongside the launch of new full-time courses aimed at boosting skills and employment opportunities in the region.

The new centre will offer three in-demand apprenticeships in sales, digital marketing, and accounting technician, all part of Ireland’s growing New Generation Apprenticeship model.

These programmes allow participants to earn while they learn, combining practical work experience with academic study, and offering a debt-free route to a recognised qualification.

In addition to the apprenticeships, the college is launching a Level 5 course in IT and Business, which is eligible for SUSI grants and includes opportunities for Erasmus+ placements in Europe—giving learners valuable international work experience.

A Level 4 course in Office Skills will also be available, with learners able to access the Back to Education Allowance (BTEA) to support their return to study.

The investment includes:

A cutting-edge Digital Marketing Studio

A fully equipped Podcasting Studio

Modern Conference Facilities

Newly renovated classrooms

Ample on-site parking

Michael Murphy, principal of Mayo College of Further Education and Training, described the development as a major step forward for education and training in the region.

“This investment reflects our vision to provide learners in Mayo and beyond with access to world-class training facilities and career-ready qualifications,” he said.

“The New Generation Apprenticeship Centre in Swinford will be a hub of innovation, creativity, and opportunity.”

Courses are currently accepting applications for all programmes.

The college is encouraging local employers to partner in offering placements and mentoring for apprentices, while also welcoming adult learners and school leavers to explore the new full-time courses.
