This 2026 Headliner Is the Highest Paid Artist in Coachella History

Next year’s Coachella lineup was announced this week, and fans are already planning their trips to California to take in the festival. Some of the biggest names in music are on the list of planned performances, including Sabrina Carpenter, Young Thug, Laufey and Karol G.

Several genres from around the music world are represented, ensuring that fans of every genre – from metal to hip-hop – get to see some of their favorites. The show is set to take place over two weekends in April, and one of the headliners will make history the moment they step on stage.

Justin Bieber is the headliner for both Saturday sessions at Coachella this year, and he’s reportedly set to break an impressive record in the process.

Bieber’s Record Breaking Coachella Fee

Sources tell Rolling Stone that Bieber will make over $10 million to perform at Coachella, making him the highest-paid artist in festival history. Bieber’s reported paycheck outpaces those received by other luminaries like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and Kanye West.

The 31-year-old singer negotiated directly with festival promoters for the fee, unlike most top stars, who do so through their talent agencies and representation. Bieber is set to make more than $5 million for each weekend night he will perform at Coachella, April 11 and April 18.

Coachella has never officially issued numbers on what artists are paid, but other artists have reportedly negotiated lucrative deals. In 2023, Bad Bunny was reportedly paid $5 million to headline. The Weeknd allegedly asked for $8.5 million, while Ariana Grande made $8 million.

Billboard said that Beyonce made over $8 million for her 2018 performance, while the New Yorker reported that Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar and Radiohead each made between $3 and 4 million to perform.

Justin Bieber’s Coachella Comeback

Bieber’s Coachella dates will be his first performances in the United States since he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome – a condition that causes facial paralysis and potential hearing loss. The diagnosis caused Bieber to cancel his Justice World Tour in 2022.

“After getting off stage, the exhaustion overtook me and I realized that I need to make my health the priority right now,” the singer said in September of that year.

“So I’m going to take a break from touring for the time being. I’m going to be OK, but I need time to rest and get better.”

This year, Bieber has released two albums in quick succession, and has enjoyed a lengthy stay near the top of the pop charts. The Coachella performance seems to be coming at the perfect time, as Bieber prepares to make a full comeback next year.

We’ll see if the Coachella performances result in a tour announcement or more shows in America for Bieber, and whether other artists will use his reported payday as a bargaining chip for Coachella performances in the future.
