(NBC, KYMA) – A White House official confirms to NBC News that all six members of the Commission of Fine Arts, the group in charge of reviewing President Donald Trump’s ballroom construction project, have been fired.

The commission is an independent federal agency charged with giving expert advice to the president and the government on matters of design and aesthetics in the capital area.

The White House official says, “We are preparing to appoint a new slate of members to the commission that are more aligned with President Trump’s America First policies.”

Members of the commission were informed that they were “terminated, effective immediately” via a White House e-mail sent Tuesday.

All six sitting commissioners were appointed by former President Joe Biden.
