GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – It’s a big weekend at the Arts Center of Western Colorado as the organization hosts the 60th Annual Holiday Fine Art and Craft Fair. Hundreds of people are expected to stop by to support local artists, browse handmade gifts, and enjoy one of the community’s longest-running traditions.

For six decades, the Art Center’s Holiday Fair has been among the region’s most beloved seasonal events, bringing together artists, shoppers and the creative community under one roof.

“This is one of our most festive events of the year, and we really are honored to be able to provide this to the community,” said Peter Booth Assistant Director at the Art Center of Western Colorado. “This has been going on for decades. This is our Holiday Fine Art and Craft Fair, we have several dozen artists throughout our building providing all sorts of holiday gifts and all handmade art, from stained glass to ceramics to various types of paintings to fabric art and jewelry and even more.”

Organizers note that the event now spans the entire building, showcasing a large group of creators — many of whom return year after year. Most participating artists are local to the Western Slope, with a few traveling in from the Front Range. Some vendors have been part of the fair for decades.

“Almost everybody here is local. A few from the Front Range, but most of them are local. And some of them have been coming and enjoying this event for decades. In fact, the stained-glass artists that we have been participating for 40 years,” said Booth.

The center hopes this milestone year underscores the important cultural and economic role the arts play on the Western Slope.

“The creative community is a mainstay of our economy. People don’t realize it, but it is an economic driver for the Grand Junction area as well as the Western Slope,” said Booth.

The 60th Annual Holiday Art and Craft Fair continues through the weekend, offering residents a chance to support local artists, do holiday shopping and celebrate a long-standing community tradition.

The fair will also take place on November 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1803 North 7th Street in Grand Junction, CO.
