New Spyro Game Hopium Builds as Ex-Toys for Bob Artist Reinforces Rumours 1

Developer Toys for Bob has been an interesting one to watch in recent years, and eager fans of its games are grasping at any possible thread for clues as to its current project.

A new clue has been discovered via a LinkedIn profile that suggests the studio is busy making a new Spyro game.

After making Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and then Crash Team Rumble, Toys for Bob was put to work on the Call of Duty series. It eventually announced it was going independent, but that it would possibly still be working with Microsoft.

Now, the LinkedIn of a former senior concept artist at Toys for Bob mentions “Spyro” directly. They say they worked there between August 2022 and March 2024.

Where the theory crafting begins is with the dates. Spyro: Reignited Trilogy was released long before this individual worked at Toys for Bob, and Crash Team Rumble launched in June 2023.

While there was a spate of post-launch content created for the multiplayer title, including a playable Spyro, this was all released before the artist departed the developer, suggesting they were working on their mentioned Spyro project in the final few months of their employment.

It’s quite fiddly stuff, but some fans are taking this more or less as confirmation that a new Spyro title is in the works. While we can see the logic, we’ve been burned before by small details amounting to nothing, so it’s difficult to fully get behind this.

What do you think? Is this LinkedIn thing a compelling clue that Toys for Bob is making more Spyro? Tell us in the comments section below.

Thanks to Coolmusic for the tip.
