Canfas Gallery Cardigan and TEN Cardiff have come together to organise the exhibition named Olion Bywyd – Life Lines created by Welsh artist Annie Morgan Suganami from Machynlleth.

It will feature portraits of matriarchs in society, mainly elderly women who have played a crucial part in shaping family and community life.

The exhibition aims to give these women the dignity and visibility they deserve, yet are so often overlooked by society.

Known for her portraits and still life paintings, Suganami’s works will depict these women with various emotions injected with humour, and love.

All artworks under her skilful brushwork display a combination of both fine detail and spontaneous, immediate marks reflecting the character of each sitter.

Each portrait is said to have a dynamic aura, ensuring her subjects feel present and dynamic rather than formal or posed.

The exhibition is curated by Cat Gardiner.

Art lovers will have an opportunity to meet the artist on Saturday, March 7, between 1pm and 3pm at Canfas Gallery, Cardigan SA43 1HY.

The exhibition will run until March 28, and the gallery will be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10.30am to 4pm each day.
