Helicline Fine Art will present a selection of historic American paintings, drawings, and sculptures at The American Art Fair, running May 16–19 at Bohemian National Hall. The gallery, founded in 2008 by Keith Sherman and Roy Goldberg, focuses on American and European Modernism, with an emphasis on the Works Progress Administration era of the 1930s and 1940s.

The presentation will feature works by artists including Thomas Hart Benton, Charles Burchfield, Stuart Davis, William Zorach, and others associated with American Scene painting, Social Realism, Regionalism, and abstraction. The gallery’s focus reflects a period during the Great Depression when federal initiatives such as the WPA and Federal Art Project supported artists and expanded access to the arts.

In addition to its fair presentation, Helicline will bring works from its collection of more than 1,000 objects related to the 1939 World’s Fair, spanning fine art, design, and historical materials.

“We are so excited to participate in The American Art Fair,” Sherman said. “We’ve been attending as guests since its inception, and to now exhibit—offering artworks that resonate deeply in our hearts—is profoundly meaningful.”

This marks the gallery’s second art fair appearance, following its participation in The Salon at the Park Avenue Armory. Helicline’s current exhibition, Showstoppers: The Art of Stage and Screen, is available online through May 10 and features costume and set design drawings, illustrations, sculptures, and paintings spanning the 1920s through the 1990s, highlighting productions across Broadway, film, dance, and opera.

Helicline Fine Art operates from a private Midtown Manhattan space and is open by appointment.
