She’s joked to her fans about the less glamorous side of motherhood, bemoaning having ‘to go and wash baby sick out of my hair’.

But as our exclusive pictures show, Peaky Blinders actress Sophie Rundle has motherhood down to a fine art as she cradles her newborn son on a family stroll.

The 36-year-old actress, who played Ada Thorne in the BBC gangster drama, was spotted in north London with actor husband Matt Stokoe and son Henry, three.

One passerby commented: ‘Motherhood clearly suits her. As any mother with two young children knows, it can be tiring but Sophie looks effortlessly elegant and radiant. The family were clearly enjoying their time out.’

Sophie, wearing denim jeans paired with a white loose-fitting shirt and sliders, carried her newborn son in an olive green sling leaving arms free for a cuddle.

Dad Matt, 35, best known for his role in the Channel 4 series Misfits, protectively held the hand of the couple’s eldest son. The showbiz couple met in 2016 on the set of the Sky period drama Jamestown.

The actress, who found fame as PC Kirsten McAskill in the hit TV series Happy Valley, gave birth to her as yet unnamed son just seven weeks ago. Posting an adorable snap of her newborn snuggled against her chest she told her half a million Instagram followers: ‘He’s here. I am fully ready and expecting to nosedive off the hormonal cliff edge at any moment but for now I am riding this heavenly wave of perfect love.’

She also used the post to thank Stroud Maternity Hospital in Gloucester for ‘bringing him here so safely and happily and for looking after us so expertly’.

A fortnight later she again posted a photo of her pushing a pram while sipping a coffee through a straw telling her followers: ‘If you’ve come to my Instagram looking for buzzy showbiz content then hahahahahahaha. Here are some pictures of me and my children. I have to go wash baby sick out of my hair now.’

Sophie also starred alongside her husband in the thriller After the Flood, wearing a fake bump during filming. On The One Show earlier this year she confirmed her pregnancy and revealed how the real and fake pregnancy almost overlapped.

‘I am now pregnant in real life. So this feels like the longest pregnancy any woman has ever endured,’ she laughed.
