The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration has appointed the visual artist OLIVER JEFFERS as its newest trustee.
Jeffers is an Australian-born Northern Irish artist, illustrator and writer, known for his children’s picture books including ‘How to Catch a Star’ and ‘Lost and Found’.
He works across illustration, painting, bookmaking, collage, performance and sculpture, and his original artwork has been exhibited internationally.
Jeffers’ books have been published in 49 languages and he has been awarded the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize Gold Medal, the Blue Peter Book Award, Irish Children’s Book of the Year, Bologna Ragazzi Award, an Emmy, a BAFTA and an MBE.
Chair of the board, JOHN KAMPFNER, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome the talented Oliver Jeffers to the board as we reach closer to opening our doors in 2026.
“I look forward to working with Oliver in our mission to champion illustration to all.”
Once the venue opens in Clerkenwell, London it will be the world’s largest arts space dedicated to illustration.
Jeffers commented: “Illustration has a unique power to connect people across age, culture and language.
“Quentin’s work has done that for generations, and it’s a privilege to contribute to a space that honours his legacy while celebrating the future of visual storytelling.”
