For many artists, playing once at Glastonbury would be considered a dream come true, but one first-time performer at the festival was on stage four times and played a gig in Italy in the same weekend.

“It’s not really sunk in, I’m still pinching myself,” says Morgan Munroe, a musician from Leicester.

She performed four times at Glastonbury and travelled to do a private show at a mansion in Pisa over the course of a weekend.

The R&B artist, who only found out she had been booked to play at Glastonbury a month and a half in advance, described the experience as a “rollercoaster”.

Speaking to the BBC, Munroe said: “I don’t think I’ve actually realised how amazing this is, to be at this point in my career and get to do not only one show, but four shows at Glastonbury is actually insane.”

Munroe said she played the Lonely Hearts Club stage on Friday with the MOBO UnSung showcase, and afterwards she did an “impromptu” show for Black at Glasto.

After the show, the musician went back to her accommodation, packed and travelled straight to London Stansted airport to catch her flight to Italy.

Munroe said she played twice in Pisa, once at 14:00 and again at 22:00, and slept in between.

The artist described the travelling as “quite easy”, as the logistics were worked out in advance, but added the experience was “long and tiring”.

‘It was insane’

After returning to Glastonbury on Sunday morning, she played twice more to round off the weekend.

On Sunday, Munroe performed at the Terminal 1 stage with DJ Ace and Everything R&B, and later on she got called up by Lisa Maffia and So Solid Crew to play a song with them on the same stage.

Munroe said she was “floored” when Maffia asked her to go on stage to perform a song with them as she had “grown up on their music”.

She added: “I didn’t for one minute think that she would see me in the crowd and be like ‘yeah you’re coming up on stage’.

“It was insane.”

Munroe added she was going to do “everything in my power” to return to Glastonbury to perform with her band.

“It was just a whole experience. I’m so, so glad to have been a part of it,” she said.
