“Remembering Mary Hill (1926 – 2024)” is running at Caerbladon, 24 High Street, until December 24.

Mary was a keen artist, photographer and former town councillor.

The exhibition includes a selection of her work in painting, textiles, and photography, alongside pieces she collected from friends and other artists including Peter Harris and John Clarke.

Caerbladon gallery co-director David Drake said: “For nearly five decades, Mary Hill made an outstanding contribution to community life in Malmesbury.

“During the clearance of her house on Abbey Row after her death, many of her artworks and photographs came to light, as well as an impressive selection of works by other artists.

“As part of Caerbladon’s In Living Memory series, we have curated a special exhibition featuring over fifty artworks which show the breadth of her talents and interests.”

Mary Florence Hill grew up in Frampton Cotterell and attended school in Bristol.

She later moved to Kington Langley and taught art at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, where she became deputy headmistress.

In the late seventies, Mary settled in Malmesbury where she lived for 45 years.

Mary died on October 6, 2024, aged 98.
