Bakersfield Museum of Art hosting Second Saturday events

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Museum of Art is kicking-off October’s Second Saturday’s with an event featuring lowriders, jazz and fine art.

Jacqueline Valenzuela’s exhibit “Con Safos, Con Fuerza” blends aesthetics of lowrider culture with fine art. The solo-exhibition will be ready to view at BMoA from Oct. 12 to Jan. 3rd.

Valenzuela will also lead an all-ages “Build your own Lowrider” project Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You will have the chance to cut out and assemble your own lowrider vehicles, while hearing Valenzuela’s process and inspiration behind her art pieces.

You can also catch the final “Jazz in the Garden” concert featuring Bakersfield College Jazz Combos led by trumpeter Kris Tiner, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Picnics and lawn chairs are welcomed.
