Senior Anna Zhang, who has helped build costumes for the Baylor Players since her sophomore year, makes an adjustment on sophomore Matilda Joels’ costume in a recent rehearsal for the upcoming production of Little Women.  Joels is cast as Meg, along with junior Gabby Goldstein.

Louisa May Alcott’s timeless tale of friendship, growing up, and sisterhood will be retold in a fresh stage adaptation of Little Women in Roddy Theater, Oct. 23-26 at 7:30 p.m., and Oct. 27 at 2:30 p.m.

Director Beth Gumnick researched several versions of the iconic story, before landing on playwright Kate Hamill’s version that combines modern sensibilities with fresh and engaging dialogue.

“Every adaptation is going to take its liberties, and this script felt accessible for a contemporary audience,” said Gumnick.  “At its heart the play is about adolescence and finding where you fit in the world, which is something the students are interested in.  It is funny, sweet, and tender.  It is all about love and family, which resonates with The Baylor Players as a family.”

Tickets will go on sale here, starting Oct. 15.
