Guests welcome to take in arts, drama and music

Dryden seniors, left to right Caila Fitchett, Cara Prusakiewicz and Chloe DeLoy work on their art projects for an upcoming show.

Editor’s note: The following article was submitted by Sheryl Czerwinski of Dryden Community Schools.

DRYDEN — On Saturday, April 25, Dryden Community Schools will present the fourteenth annual Fine Arts Festival, a collection of presentations from the Art, Music and Drama Departments at Dryden High School. All are welcome to attend.

“I’m very excited for this year’s Fine Arts Festival!” shared Dryden High School Senior Cara Prusakiewicz. “My artwork will be in the art show, which I am very proud of. Everyone involved has put in a lot of time and effort, which will assuredly show. Our school has so much talent and creativity that we’re excited to showcase,” she added.

The public will be able to view and appreciate this creativity as well at the end of April.

Presentations are scheduled as follows: Doors open at 10:30 a.m.
•Art exhibition (K-12 students), 10:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.
•Dryden Bands Performance, 11:00 a.m.
•Dryden Drama Club, Nine Girls, 12:30 p.m.
•Artwork by students in grades BKindergarten-12 will be displayed in the Dryden High School library and hallways.

Spectators can see art from Dryden High School’s Drawing, Painting, Watercolor, Textiles, Mixed Media, Ceramics and Sculpture classes.

Band Performances will include selections played by the 5th-6th grade beginning band, the junior high band, and the high school band. Small groups and ensembles will be featured as well.

The Drama Club presentation will be in the Dryden High School Multi-Purpose Room. Nine Girls is written by Wilfrid H. Pettitt and produced by special arrangement with The Dramatic Publishing Company.

The story follows a group of 1950’s sorority sisters at a secluded mountain cabin as they are questioned about the mysterious death of one of their own during a storm.

Through tense interactions and shifting suspicions, hidden rivalries and secrets emerge, leading to the revelation of the killer within the group.

Drama Club member Kaeleigh Gourieux discussed her feelings about preparations for the upcoming performances.

“I have been a part of the drama club for five years and have loved every second of it. I’ve made so many new friends and so many memories. I’m so glad I was able to be a part of this group for so many years. I can’t wait for everyone to see the show this year, just because this show means so much to us.”

She added, “I want to thank Director Ms. Czerwinski for always pushing me to do my best and for being an amazing director.”

Audiences have two opportunities to see the show: an additional performance will take place the evening before the Fine Arts Festival on Friday, April 24. There is a nominal admission charge for guests on Friday night.

A bake sale will also be held; donations will be accepted for homemade baked goods. Concessions will be available.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and will close at the end of the day’s final performance. Attendees are welcome to attend as many events as they would like.

Proceeds benefit the Art, Music, and Drama departments of Dryden Community Schools.
