Nagender Vinay, a fine arts student, received the prestigious Sayeed Bin Mohammed Naqsh Portraiture Award 2025 in Hyderabad. The award, which includes a certificate and Rs 10,000, honours the legacy of Naqsh—a key figure in the Progressive Art Movement known for his distinctive oil and watercolour portraiture.

Hyderabad: The Sayeed Bin Mohammed Naqsh Portraiture award 2025 was presented to Nagender Vinay, a fine arts student on Wednesday. The award carries a certificate and a cash reward of Rs. 10,000.

Sayeed Bin Mohammed Naqsh was one of the few artists who played a key role in Progressive Art Movement. Born in Mahbubnagar district, he mastered portrait painting, and created works in oil colours using a technique distinct from western styles. Later, he transitioned to painting in water colour.


Paying homage to Sayeed Bin Mohammed, the event also marked the launch of a dedicated website. It was attended by numerous art aficionados, former professors of the Arts College, associates and members of the arts fraternity.
