Age: 17.

Art focus: Orchestra.

Instrument: Violin.

Adviser nomination: “Emelia is currently a senior violinist in Chamber Orchestra. I have known Emelia as a musician since 6th grade. She has always shown a strong commitment to improving her own skills and to helping improve the quality of the ensemble. The orchestra program also values her supportive, inclusive attitude toward her fellow musicians,” adviser Leslie Zander said.

Proudest fine arts achievement: Playing in the honors orchestra last year.

What got you interested in playing the violin? In sixth grade, I loved the high pitches and elegance of the violin.

Favorite piece you’ve performed: “1812 Overture” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

What do you enjoy most about being in orchestra? Getting to make music and connect with new people every year.

Other extracurricular activities: Nordic skiing, Key Club, Knowledge Bowl.

Dream job: Nurse practitioner or doctor.

Favorite subject: Biology.

Favorite movie: “Beauty and the Beast.”

Favorite TV show: “Gilmore Girls.”

Favorite book: “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes.

Hobbies: Cooking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
