GuS Periscopes, based in Cwmbran, is investing in a state-of-the-art CNC polisher, expanding its engineering and production areas, and increasing employee training as part of its growth strategy.

Torfaen MP Nick Thomas-Symonds visited the company to see the upgrades and meet staff.

Mr Thomas-Symonds said: “I was delighted to visit GuS Periscopes who continue to go from strength to strength, bringing jobs and investment to Torfaen.

“It’s really pleasing to see the commitment to upskilling their existing staff, and hear of their long-term plans for future growth.

“Torfaen is a great place for businesses to establish themselves, and I look forward to seeing GuS Periscopes’ progress in future years.”

The company, which operates from an 11,000 sq ft facility, specialises in the design and manufacture of military periscopes, episcopes, and vision blocks for armoured vehicles.

2024 was a year of significant growth, prompting the latest round of investment to support future expansion.

GuS Periscopes has recently hired a sales manager and a manufacturing engineer, and is currently recruiting for a machine operator and a production technician.

The company has also invested in export compliance training and accountancy skills for its existing workforce.

Karen Driver, managing director of GuS Periscopes, said: “GuS Periscopes was delighted to welcome Nick Thomas-Symonds MP to the Cwmbran facility and to have the opportunity to showcase both the cutting-edge technology and the dedicated and talented GuS team.

“The success GuS Periscopes is enjoying is in no small part down to the efforts of the staff and it is well deserved.

“I am confident that we can seize the opportunities in front of us and continue our upward trajectory.

“The future for everyone in the company looks exceptionally bright.”
