Somerset-based SHI International, one of the world’s leading technology solutions providers, announced Tuesday a major investment in a state-of-the-art AI & Cyber Labs facility in New Jersey.

SHI’s state-of-the-art AI & Cyber Labs offer comprehensive, next-generation generative AI capabilities, supporting customers from ideation and prototyping services to full datacenter-scale infrastructure delivery. Recognizing the diverse paths to genAI adoption, the labs are designed to meet customers at any stage of their AI journey.

SHI officials said this new expansion will help customers leverage rapid advances in AI solutions and the infrastructure behind them.

In collaboration with several leading AI technology partners, SHI’s new AI & Cyber Labs will enable customers to experiment with diverse AI and cyber use cases, virtually any large language model, and various infrastructure configurations in a secure, controlled environment.

The facility is equipped with NVIDIA accelerated computing and NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform. The labs can help customers develop new LLMs, leverage and fine-tune existing LLMs, and run full-scale inferencing across a variety of infrastructure and solutions.
SHI’s AI & Cyber Labs are co-located with its Ridge Data Center Factory in Piscataway. The facility is the flagship of a network of four data center factories located in the U.S., UK, Netherlands and Singapore.

This global network can deliver advanced data center solutions, including server configuration, rack building, imaging and networking solutions to customers around the world. This end-to-end solution approach, combining lab services with the Data Center Factory, ensures customers can quickly, seamlessly transition from experimentation to full-scale implementation.

SHI’s AI & Cyber Labs are available today across every major public cloud provider, and the new physical facility will be officially opened in early Q1 2025.

SHI CEO Thai Lee obviously is thrilled.

“The introduction of SHI’s AI & Cyber Labs will empower many organizations to bring both clarity and speed to their AI efforts, helping them identify use cases with strong ROI and the best way to achieve the shortest time to value,” she said. “With the new AI & Cyber Labs, we are fulfilling our ongoing promise to help our customers solve what’s next.”

In addition to the latest server, storage, power and cooling, networking, and software solutions, SHI’s AI & Cyber Labs offer a range of services with access to hundreds of AI experts, including data scientists, machine learning engineers, AI solutions architects, AI ethics and compliance experts, and certified engineers to help customers imagine, experiment with, and adopt the ideal AI and cyber technologies.

At launch, services include AI Readiness and Program Consulting, Data Assessment Workshops, and Advanced Generative AI Services covering LLM fine-tuning, custom RAG integration, distributed machine learning Implementation, and end-user adoption training.
Craig Weinstein, VP of the Americas Partner Organization at NVIDIA, said the potential impact is great.

“Enterprises racing to adopt generative AI need the right tools to kick-start their journeys,” he said. “The SHI AI & Cyber Labs facility, equipped with NVIDIA accelerated computing and the full NVIDIA AI stack, provides organizations with the technologies and expertise needed to harness the transformative power of generative AI and drive innovation across industries.”

SHI International Corp. is a $14 billion transformational technology solutions provider serving the needs of more than 17,000 corporate, enterprise, public sector and academic customer organizations around the world.

Jack Hogan, vice president of Advanced Growth Technologies at SHI, said the company is eager to help anyone and everyone.

“Every organization is on a unique AI journey,” he said. “SHI’s next-generation generative AI lab allows SHI to meet customers where they are on that journey, at any stage or onramp, through a consultative, collaborative, experimentation-as-a-service approach, guiding them toward their desired business outcome while achieving their ROI goals.

“Whether their use case is best suited to a public cloud-based approach, or it requires on-premises infrastructure due to cost, complexity, or sensitive or regulated data, or a hybrid approach, SHI can now deliver a fully integrated, turnkey AI solution.”
