AN INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed artist is putting in an appearance at the Lemongrove Gallery in Henley next week.

Fabian Perez was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to a nightclub owner father, Antonio, and an artistic mother, Edua.

His mother died when he was 16 and his father when he was 19, so Fabian began living as a gypsy and travelling the globe. The 58-year-old has become one of the world’s most collected artists.

As a massive football fan, Fabian used to draw players for his teachers. He took a few art courses as a young adult, but was never formally trained.

Having developed a love of martial arts, when he met Japanese karate master Oscar Higa, Higa became his teacher, mentor, friend and father figure. Many of his artworks feature scenes from his past, outside the nightclubs and bordellos of his youth in Argentina. He captures the sombre moods and brooding looks of the women he saw.

Fabian’s work blends classical technique with a modern sensibility, evoking the elegance of bygone eras while capturing the complexities of human emotion. Over the last two decades, his art has been exhibited internationally and it resides in the collections of many people from the worlds of film and sport.

He lives in Los Angeles, America, with his wife Luciana and three children, Camila, Tiago and Santino. Lucy features in many of his paintings.

Fabian will be at the gallery as part of his 20th anniversary tour on Thursday, November 20, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

His new collection features contrasts of light and shadow, with rich, atmospheric narratives.

With evocative portraits and romantic imagery, each piece reflects his mastery of mood and movement. Viewers are invited into a world of timeless sophistication and emotional intensity.

Fabian will talk about his artistic journey and guests can view his latest creations in an intimate gallery setting.

The artist sees the purpose of art as to perpetuate beauty and he continues searching for greater self-expression and artistic truth.

The event is invitation-only and spaces are strictly limited.

To request an invitation, contact the gallery in Duke Street on (01491) 577215, email henley@thelemongrove gallery.co.uk or visit www.the lemongrovegallery.co.uk
