Producing company Raw Material has created an in-house dramaturg role, to “connect with Scotland’s theatre artists”.
JACKIE CRICHTON joins the company for a year on a part-time basis, in a position supported by the National Lottery via Creative Scotland.
She will lead on the delivery of artist development programme Raw Potential, further details for which will be released in coming months.
Crichton was previously literary associate at the Lyceum in Edinburgh, serving under artistic director DAVID GREIG from 2019 to this year.
Before that, she worked at Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland.
Crichton said: “I am delighted to work with Raw Material. I’ve long admired their work as being of outstanding artistic merit and agility.”
Raw Material founders MARGARET-ANNE O’DONNELL and GILLIAN GARRITY commented: “Writers and the stories they want to tell are at the heart of what we do. We are excited to continue our commitment to new writing and having the support of Jackie in a dramaturgical role is a fabulously exciting stage on our journey of supporting Scottish or Scottish based artists.
“Without our writers where would we be? This project will help us connect with more writers and we are very grateful to Creative Scotland for supporting Jackie, Raw Material and our Raw Potential project as well as recognising the importance of dramaturgy to the process of bringing new work to our stages.”
