SHE wanted a cute mystical tattoo on her shoulder.
So when a local salon offered a ‘flash’ deal on a superstitious Friday 13th, Lily decided to take advantage – as the inking was just £31.
However, she was left disappointed when she saw the finished result, which looked vastly different from the image she was initially shown.
And the etching was so bad that the tattoo artist offered to pay her in a bid to stop the fail making it online.
Despite that, Lily ended up posting a picture on a Tattoo Shaming group on Facebook, with the post quickly going viral.
“What I asked for vs what I got… never again participating in Friday the 13th flashes,” she’d written on the Facebook post.
“Currently thinking about the time I got such a bad tattoo that the artist paid me not to post it anywhere,” she wrote over the top of a TikTok post sharing a look at the tatt.
And she added in the caption that the tattooist had not only given her a refund and paid for her cover-up design, they’d also given her “extra on top for emotional damages”.
She also added hashtags including “#badtattoo #tattoo #funny #itwasntfunny”.
“Please tell me you’ve gotten it fixed now?” one person wrote in the comments of the TikTok.
With Lily sharing a look at the coverup tatt she’d gone for, adding: “It’s not perfect (it was never gonna be after that MONSTROSITY) but I’m happy with it!”
The end tattoo featured a lot more shading and was much more detailed than the original, with the wavy line work corrected too.
“Pinterest vs Temu,” another giggled.
“Omg, it’s like they didn’t even finish it either,” a third wrote.
“To be fair I got really lucky – my Friday the 13th tattoo was £13 from an apprentice and I got really lucky.”
“LITERALLY! And the line work???? So bad,” Lily replied
“Ptsd (post tattoo stress disorder),” someone else commented.
“I hope you didn’t pay for that,” another questioned.
Tattoo Do’s and Don’ts
1. Think, think and think some more
Tattoos done on a whim are far more likely to lead to regret than a tattoo you thought long and hard about. Think about why you want what you’ve chosen. And if you still want it after a few months, then get it.
2. Age restrictions apply
You must be 18 years old to be tattooed in the UK.
3. Don’t haggle over the price
When you go to a tattoo shop the price is the price. You are paying for an artist’s time and skills, they charge what they believe those things are worth.
4. Don’t get tattooed while you’re hungry
Eat before you go for your tattoo session and make sure you’re hydrated. You’re about to be subjected to a period of sustained physical discomfort, if you’re feeling a little weak from hunger or you’re dehydrated things will not go as smoothly as they should.
5. Don’t drink alcohol before you get tattooed
If you are drunk or under the influence of drugs, don’t go for a tattoo. In fact, if your tattooist has anything at all about them they will turn you away if you are clearly under the influence of any intoxicating substances. I’d also avoid drinking the night before, even a few drinks will thin your blood and make your bleed more.
To which Lily replied: “Oh I certainly did not!”
