Jenna Stuchfield said she wanted her mural to represent family and Jersey

An artist has gifted her time to Jersey General Hospital by painting a mural in its maternity ward free of charge.

Jenna Stuchfield took to Facebook to ask members of a local group where deserved a free mural, with the majority championing the hospital.

The artwork is themed on St Ouen’s Bay and shows a mother and baby rabbit nesting beneath a sunset.

Ms Stuchfield said: “I wanted it to represent family and I wanted it to represent Jersey.”

She added: “I feel like it’s quite cosy and I wanted people to walk past it and feel warm and feel love from the painting.”

The Jersey artist said she now plans to paint the children’s emergency department and the antenatal ward.

Ms Stuchfield stands next to her painting. The painting shows a mother rabbit and her baby nesting next to the bay. The animals are surrounded by flowers with sand dunes above them. There is also a white hut just off the water. The sky is a mix of purples and oranges.
