NEED TO KNOW

  • Kim Kardashian shared makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic’s reaction to her shocking Academy Museum Gala 2025 look
  • The actress revealed that she had the pro, who is the founder of Makeup by Mario, fly in to do her glam, only for her to wear a last-minute face mask for the event
  • Kardashian’s ensemble was made by Maison Margiela and featured a stunning arrangement of jewels and a nude corset gown

Kim Kardashian knows what she wants.

On Saturday, Oct. 18, the SKIMS mogul, 44, made the shocking decision to completely cover her head in an avant-garde Maison Margiela couture look for the 2025 Academy Museum Gala. Turns out, the disguise may not have been as appreciated by the person who did her glam.

“I flew in my favorite makeup artist Mario [Dedivanovic] from New York, and this is kind of a last-minute thing, so I’m sure he’s not so happy with it,” she told Variety on the red carpet.

Kardashian also had “full hair” (read: Rapunzel-level tresses) done by Chris Appleton that was partially hidden under the covering too.

But, according to the star herself, she always planned to showcase her romantic glam at some point in the night. Kardashian told Variety that she wanted to ditch the mask once inside the party.

Likely to Dedivanovic’s relief, photos of Kardashian’s makeup were eventually shared by Appleton on Instagram, and it’s confirmed that she went with a smokey eye with fluttering lashes, blushed cheeks and a nude lip.

The rest of Kardashian’s look featured a nude-colored gown made with bell sleeves and an ultra waist-cinching corset, as well as an eye-catching choker with green jewels and cross pendants adorning the mask.

Kardashian was easily one of the most talked attendees at the annual Los Angeles gala, but not only because of her haute entrance. Only days before the star-studded night, the reality star broke the internet with the new SKIMS Faux Hair Micro String Thong, an undergarment covered in fake pubic hair of varying textures.

“It was just a fun, silly idea,” Kardashian told  E! News on the carpet. “But you know a lot of other people have done it, like [John] Galliano.” She continued, “I’m shocked it got so much attention,” adding, “We’ve been laughing and talking about it all day long.”

Recently, Kardashian has been booked and busy between promoting her projects and supporting family.

On Oct. 16, she kicked off the press tour for Ryan Murphy’s All’s Fair at the Los Angeles premiere wearing a Schiaparelli Couture Spring 2025 drop ball gown. Her mom, Kris Jenner, was also on hand serving Old Hollywood glamour in a yellow Givenchy blazer dress.

Kardashian later switched up her look in a skintight latex bodycon in celebration of sister Kylie Jenner reaching her 10 year anniversary with Kylie Cosmetics.
