Jake Andrew, a multi-disciplinary artist and musician, has partnered up with Lions’ Den City, a new wellness space in White Lion Street, to launch a new residency programme.

Mr Andrew, believes Norwich has been “crying out for” a new community space and to mark the launch of the artist residency, he has a three-month immersive installation on display at the site.

The 33-year-old said: “Lions’ Den City has a fantastic lighting and sound system.

“It’s the perfect place to explore that intersection between art, emotion and community.

“I am hoping to develop with live painting sessions at the venue.

“I am excited to see where the residency can go.

“Seeing lots of my artwork on display is very special.

“My work is personal and inspired by my own experiences.

Mr Andrew’s practice explores themes of fire and ice and is on display throughout the 4,000sq ft venue.

Owner of Lions’ Den City, Lee Taylor, believes it is the “perfect time of the year” to launch the wellness space and said the grand opening on December 14 went “incredibly well”.

He said:  “I wanted to open around this time of year so people have a fresh space to start practising their New Year’s resolutions.

“More than 100 people used the three saunas on site.

“When it is dark, the city’s Christmas lights look fabulous from inside the saunas.

“It’s great to see people using the space at their own leisure.”

The site has three saunas, a cafe, Norwich’s first alcohol-free late-night bar and a studio.

Lions’ Den City will be open on New Year’s Day with Antony Trebble Training and Coffee Run Club hosting guided runs.
