As craft beer brand Deya turns ten, we talk to Thom Hobson, the artist behind the distinctive look of the young brewery that does things differently

Deya Brewing Company celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, and in the decade it’s been producing its moreish, hoppy beers it’s matched the quality of its product with some of the best packaging design around.

Deya cans are quite unlike anything else in the craft beer shop: from the very first can of Steady Rolling Man that appeared in 2015, through to the huge murals that currently surround the brewery taproom, its branding has garnered a following unrivalled in the industry.

While the Deya brewery is based on an industrial estate in Cheltenham, Thom Hobson, the artist responsible for designing every Deya can and bottle label, piece of merch and wall-sized mural, is actually a few hundred miles away in a house and studio in the east of Belgium, where he has lived and worked since moving to the country five years ago.
