Istanbul-based Gallery Binyil brought together Turkish and international artists from different generations at the 9th Art Thessaloniki Contemporary Art Fair in Greece, presenting a group exhibition titled “Meeting of Cultures.”

Held at the TIF Helexpo exhibition center in Thessaloniki, the fair will run until May 17, offering visitors a broad look at contemporary art from across the region.

Turkish artists take the spotlight in Greece

Curated by Ilknur Sanal, the exhibition features works by prominent names from Türkiye’s art scene, including artist and writer Bedri Baykam, former president of the International Association of Art, Baksi Museum founder Professor Husamettin Kocan, IMOGA Printmaking Museum founder Professor Suleyman Saim Tekcan, painter and designer Yigit Yazici, painters Adil Ocak and Tugce Calimbay, artists Filiz Kiprik, Huseyin Rustemoglu and Can Ozsobay, as well as interior architect and designer Hasan Sefa Sofuoglu.

The show also includes works by Greek artists Lia Eleftheriadou, Katerina Rimpatsiou and Lena Morfogeni, giving the exhibition an international character and bringing together artists from different countries and generations.

Exhibition to continue in Istanbul and Bodrum

After Art Thessaloniki, “Meeting of Cultures” will be shown at Gallery Binyil in Kalamis, Istanbul, from June 1 to 19. It will then move to Flamm Hotel in Golturkbuku from June 24 to July 27.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, curator Ilknur Sanal said a 12-year-old young artist from Türkiye was also included in this year’s exhibition, underlining the importance of supporting emerging talent.

Sanal said they were proud to represent Türkiye internationally, adding that introducing Turkish artists abroad was a source of great happiness for them and that they hoped this process would continue for many years.
