Whether you’re a film buff, a music lover, a budding scientist or an amateur athlete, there is something fun to get you out and about in Tucson this weekend.

Star Wars: A New Hope in concert

“A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away” the Star Wars saga began, and this is your chance to re-experience the first of the franchise on the big screen accompanied by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra at Linda Ronstadt Music Hall. Shows are Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Tickets run from $27.05–$108.15 depending on available seating.

Mystery & Magic Theater

Looking for an awesome date night? Here’s your chance to enjoy dinner and a show and possibly even die laughing. Murder at the Magic Show II takes place this Friday and Saturday at Dante’s Fire, home of Tucson’s Iron Chef.

Savor a three-course candle-lit meal while watching live magic, mystery and comedy.

The show takes place from 6:30–10 p.m. on both days and a VIP ticket is $89.

Indigo Girls

Spend an evening with one of the most successful folk duos around and maybe even take part in a crowd sing-a-long! Indigo Girls, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray, have sold more than 15 million records over 35 years and developed an enduring following. They will be performing this Saturday at Tucson’s Fox Theatre.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets start at $64.

Flandrau Center ‘International Day of Light’

Looking for something that’s fun, smart and free for the whole family?

Sunday, May 17 is the International Day of Light — a UNESCO global initiative “to celebrate light and the role it plays in science, culture and art, education and sustainable development and in fields as diverse as medicine, communications, astronomy, and clean energy” — and Flandrau Science Center is marking the occasion with free planetarium programs, a science exhibit, and activities for scientists of all ages.

The event takes place from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Tucson 5000 & Fit Kidz Mile

The Tucson 5000 takes place on a USATF-certified 5k course at Reid Park known for being pancake flat and extremely fast. It makes for a great run whether you’re a beginner or an experienced runner going for a personal record. The event starts Saturday at 6:45 a.m. and ends at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $35

And if running is a family activity in your house, bring the kids and let them compete in the Fit Kidz Mile. The run, which takes place on a flat, up-and-back course, takes place from 7:30–8 a.m. Registration is free.

Exhibition on Screen: Turner and Constable

The Loft presents this special opportunity Sunday at 2 p.m. for art lovers to learn about the lives and experience the work of two of Britain’s greatest painters on the big screen for the first time. Tickets are $10 for Loft members and $12 for general admission

Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors

Don’t miss this “laugh-out-loud” comedy adaptation of a gothic classic presented by Arizona Theatre Company at the Temple of Music and Art, now in its final week. Seats still remain for the show Thursday through Saturday at 2 p.m. or 7:30p.m. Tickets range from $33-$118 depending on seating.
