An increasing number of wildlife sightings in cities like Shanghai these years has added both interesting dimensions and management challenges to urban life. How to maintain harmony between human activities and animals in a modern metropolis these days has become a shared concern among all stakeholders in urban development.

The Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts is holding an exhibition, titled Cities, Gardens, showing paintings in this genre to address concerns and prospects of a new city life with ecological harmony. Works on display were made by teachers and students from art schools across the country, alongside creations by renowned artists.
