WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — What better way to spend a rainy day than by marking a milestone? The Fine Arts Fiesta celebrated the 70th Anniversary Platinum Jubilee Gala, kicking off a week-long celebration in the Diamond City.
Guests came by to check out exhibits featuring artwork made by local artists.
Organizers stress how important the arts are and how important it is to show off artwork at events like this one in Wilkes-Barre.

“The arts are of great importance, and it gives the public, children and adults alike, a public venue where they can showcase their art for their families and their friends,” Fine Arts Fiesta Board of Directors President Ann Saxton said.
Long-time supporters of the fiesta and the arts, Susan and Judd Shoval, were presented with the Friends of the Arts award.
