Springs Art Gallery (SAG) will host a solo exhibition by fine art photographer Michelle Rademeyer on August 2.

Titled Crossing Boundaries, the exhibition explores the merge of photography and technology. Michelle, a Johannesburg-based artist, began her creative journey at a young age.

“I have always been an artist who explored sketching, acrylics and oil painting. Photography was always a quiet passion of mine, something I loved doing from a young age. As the years went by, I started photographing my friends and family,” she said.

In 2015, Michelle decided to take photography more seriously. She joined a photography club to learn from others and to surround herself with like-minded creatives.

She also became a member of the Photography Society of South Africa, where she entered competitions and received several awards.

Now, for the very first time, her photos will be exhibited at SAG. While she admits to being nervous, Michelle said she is mostly excited.

“The exhibition will feature fine art composites. Attendees will use QR codes to access information about the photos. It will be very interactive,” she explained.

Michelle’s work often carries elements of storytelling and reflects her positive outlook on life.

“I am often influenced by the quiet beauty in everyday moments and the emotional depth found in dreamlike scenes. Each piece I create is an exploration of feeling, memory and meaning,” she said.

Through this exhibition, SAG aims to raise awareness of emerging visual artists by providing them with exhibition space and the opportunity to engage with the public.

The event forms part of the gallery’s experimental solo and group series project, which focuses on launching the careers of new and promising artists.

Crossing Boundaries will run until August 22. The gallery is open for public viewing from Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 16:00.
