Businessman John Hanafin is now based in Dubai

An Irishman in Dubai sanctioned by the US because of his business dealings with Russia has reinvented himself as a consultant helping the super-rich invest in “rare assets”.

John Desmond Hanafin (51), who is originally from Raheny in north Dublin, was penalised because of the alleged involvement of his company in helping Russians move their assets into the United Arab Emirates to avoid sanctions following the invasion of Ukraine.
