Learn a new skill at Tate Liverpool’s Art Gym

Visitors to Albert Dock gallery will be able to raise their ‘art rate’

Young art enthusiasts are calling on Liverpool people to ‘flex’ their muscles at an art gym being set up at Tate Liverpool.

Members of the Tate Collective are creating the three-week programme of events at the Albert Dock attraction, giving visitors the chance to learn new skills or hone their current ones.

The Art Gym, created in collaboration with 2015 Turner Prize winners Assemble (who are helping restore the Granby 4 Streets), will involve free drop-in workshops, lectures and classes.

They will cover art and design, but also music and film, with everything from digital art production to traditional bookmaking on offer.

Gym kit is optional, but organisers have promised the activities will “increase your art rate”.

Tate Collective member Holly Bowers explains: “Tate Liverpool is throwing open its doors to people of all ages and abilities.

We don’t want the public to think of art as an elitist community. Anyone can enjoy it.”

Art Gym runs from March 7-31.
