The anticipation carries extra weight this year because Spotify Wrapped 2024 was more than a little glitchy. It was widely criticised as an algorithmic breakdown. Users still remember the AI-generated genre descriptions, the confusing personality slides, and the overwhelming sense that the data did not match their actual listening habits.
Spotify does not announce the Wrapped release date in advance, but the pattern is consistent. Wrapped launched on December 4 in 2024, November 29 in 2023, November 30 in 2022, and December 1 in both 2021 and 2020. Based on this five-year track record, Spotify Wrapped 2025 is most likely to appear between 1 December and 4 December, following the company’s preference for mid-week rollouts and avoiding weekend drops.
The issues in 2024 were heavily documented including the AI genre system which created overly specific or inaccurate microgenres, and “Listening Characters” which felt inconsistent across different listening patterns.
Spotify responded by confirming the system would be reviewed and confirmed that upcoming year-in-review features will “prioritise clarity and accuracy,” genre mapping tools have been updated, the personality system has been reassessed, and new global highlight features are being tested.
Users now wait to see whether these adjustments will restore confidence in one of Spotify’s most anticipated features.
