Second Saturdays kick off with Music on the Plaza, Art Walk

TRYON—Downtown Tryon came alive on Saturday, May 9, as the community celebrated the first Second Saturday event of the season, featuring talented local musicians and an engaging art walk.

The day featured an energetic performance by Karen Clardy, followed by a lively set from the Trophy Husbands, all at St. Luke’s Plaza, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy a lovely spring afternoon filled with great music and the charm of downtown Tryon. The Second Saturday Art Walk offered art enthusiasts a unique opportunity to explore local galleries on Pacolet Street and Trade Street.

Art lovers kicked off their journey at venues like the Mirroball Gallery & Lounge and Carri Bass Photo and Art Gallery. The Jeanne Parker Gallery at the Tryon Fine Art Center showcased the art of the younger generation with the “Wild Through Their Eyes” art exhibit, presented by Champions for Wildlife. 

As attendees made their way down to Trade Street, they enjoyed the latest exhibitions at the Upstairs Gallery titled “Fight or Flight” and at Tryon Painters & Sculptors titled “Harmonies of the Foothills. Visitors could then step into the always-welcoming atmospheres of Oberon Art Studios and the 80Six Gallery.  

The Second Saturday Art Walk is an ongoing celebration of the arts that residents can enjoy throughout the week, making it a rich cultural staple in the Tryon community. There are also numerous outdoor public art features, all part of the Polk County Art Trail, including the newly installed Butterfly and the Steel Deer.

This past Saturday’s event highlighted Tryon’s community spirit, encouraging everyone to come out and celebrate music, art, and community.
